UK company in Surrey · 100-day home trial · New for winter 2026
The radio the Be Ready checklist asks for, built so it works the night you need it.
With DAB+ as well as FM, a 4,500mAh battery that gives your phone about one full charge, and four ways to power it (USB-C, solar, crank, AAA backup), the Ready Larder Radio gives you news, light and a charged phone when the broadband, the mobile masts and the sockets are all off. Keep it in the kitchen. Use it every day. Trust it on the night.
Prices include VAT and delivery. Most households order one for the kitchen. The two-pack is for the car, a second home, or a parent who lives alone.
Buy once. Keep it in the kitchen. Ready on the night.
We've just launched, so there are no customer reviews yet and we won't invent any. What you can check instead: a 100-day trial that runs through the storm season, a company address in Surrey you can write to, and a product page that tells you the battery is one phone charge, not three.
Most homes are completely exposed to the most predictable emergency there is: a power cut that lasts longer than a phone battery.
The number one complaint about cheap emergency radios is a battery that quietly dies in the drawer. Ours charges from USB-C like your phone and keeps topped up on a windowsill, and the Power Cut Guide gives you a one-minute monthly test so you know it's ready.
The Be Ready checklist asks for a battery or wind-up FM radio. Most of the cheap ones stop there. This one picks up FM and DAB+, so the stations you listen to every day are there when you need them, over the air, with no broadband or mobile signal.
A 4,500mAh battery gives most phones about one full charge from the side port. Honest number: it's one charge, not three. Enough to call family, check the outage map, and ring 105 if you need to.
Charge it from the mains with USB-C. Leave it on a sunny sill and the solar panel keeps it topped up. If the power has been off for days, the crank gets the radio and light going with nothing else at all, and three AAA batteries from the kitchen drawer will run it too (batteries not included).
The best-loved emergency radios are the ones that become the kitchen radio. Decent sound, 40 DAB+ and 40 FM presets, and Bluetooth 5.3 so it plays your phone's music too. A radio you switch on every morning is a radio you can trust on the night.
UK Amazon reviews of budget emergency radios, not of ours. These are the problems we built around.
"I had it sat on my windowsill for seven months, just presuming I had a back up for emergencies. It charged my phone by exactly 1% before the battery was drained."
UK Amazon review, budget crank radio"It worked pretty well for a few weeks, but now, no matter how much I wind it up, it plays for about 30 seconds, then cuts out."
UK Amazon review, budget crank radio"Sadly sent it back as I could only get 3 radio stations, none of which I wanted."

No. The Ready Larder is an independent UK shop. The radio covers three items on the public Be Ready checklist: a wind-up radio, a torch and a power bank. We link to the real checklist so you can see what else you need.
The battery is 4,500mAh, about one full charge for most phones. It isn't a multi-charge power bank, and we'd rather tell you that now than have you find out in a power cut.
Only if everything else has run out. Charge it from the mains with USB-C and leave it on a windowsill so the solar panel keeps it topped up. A full charge gives up to 12+ hours of radio (varies with volume and use). If it runs flat, wind the crank, or put in three AAA batteries (not included).
Yes. It has a Bluetooth 5.3 speaker. It plays either the radio or your phone, not both at once.
No. DAB+ and FM come over the air, so it works when broadband and mobile data are down. For best reception pull the aerial up and keep it near a window.
One for the kitchen covers most homes. People buy a second for a parent who lives alone, a second home, or the car.
Orders are dispatched within 1 to 3 working days and arrive in 6 to 12 working days. You'll get a tracking number by email.
Use it at home for 100 days. If it isn't right, email us and send it back for a full refund. Your statutory rights are not affected.
